Dr. Tolis has been serving Connecticut families and school districts as an independent educational diagnostician since 1993, and has been in private practice since 2002.

Dr. Tolis specializes in the identification and remediation of reading disabilities, including Dyslexia.

Dr. Tolis earned her Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Connecticut, was previously a tenured member of Southern Connecticut State University's Graduate Special Education and Reading faculty, where she taught graduate-level courses in diagnostic assessment, and is presently a member of the faculty at Saint Joseph College.

Dr. Tolis holds active certifications in both Special Education and Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts.

She has served on several Connecticut State Department of Education panels, including the panel charged with revising the Connecticut Guidelines for the Identification of Learning Disabilities and the panel charged with articulating Connecticut's Response to Intervention model.

Dr. Tolis provides pro-bono workshops to several parent support agencies, including the Learning Disabilities Association of Connecticut, Smart Kids with Learning Disabilities, Connecticut Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities and African Caribbean American Parents of Children with Disabilities.
